A collection of works by herman de vries, an artist born in the Netherlands and based in Germany. It was published to coincide with an exhibition at Blind Gallery in Tokyo.

The catalog presents de vries’ unique paintings, which are not shaped by form or color, but rather delicately framed with earth and ash rubbed onto paper, dried grass, leaves, and other collected materials. Reflecting de vries’ connection to natural elements, the book uses various textured papers, such as recycled paper and stone paper, each chosen for its organic feel.

The minimalist design avoids embellishment, yet subtle details—like variations in paper texture and the differing widths of the page margins—resonate with de vries’ artistic philosophy, creating a profound sense of harmony.
