Art direction of the 48th “takeo paper show” which was held since 1965 by TAKEO Co., Ltd., which has developed and provided high-end special printing paper as a trading company specializing in paper since its establishment in 1899.

At this “takeo paper show,” which was held for the first time in four years, has the theme of “precision,” and instead of designing the fine paper, the creators create and suggest various paper materials. With the rapid development of the Internet and digital devices, we are facing a turning point. 9 creators  proposed the original potential of materials along this situation.

The venue is designed with architect Hideyuki Nakamura, and huge paper rolls are piled up like it is shipped from the paper mill, and a corner is created so that visitors can physically feel the texture of the paper. In the space where the prototype was exhibited, a documentary movie showing the production process of the space and paper was shown. The catalogue consists of photographs and abundant texts of the exhibition held in Tokyo and the patterns of each production process. It includes interviews with creators of over 5,000 characters, an essay by cultural anthropologist Shinichi Takemura, a discussion between the president of Takeo, an art director, Yoshihisa Tanaka and the venue designer, Hideyuki Nakayama so that the book can be read from various angles of manufacturing and future industries.
